Before you start: what does the Regulation require?
In short (details in EU warranty label: mandatory from 27 Sept 2026):
- a prominent, shop-level notice of the legal guarantee,
- in the colour version (RGB), legible at default size, unaltered,
- with a QR code plus a clickable link to the "Your Europe" portal,
- in the customer's language (24 EU official languages),
- ideally also in the order confirmation email.
Step 1: Install the app from the Shopify App Store
Install the EU warranty label from the Shopify App Store. The app is embedded in the Shopify admin, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt), and needs no theme edit.
Step 2: Activate the theme block (no code)
The app ships a Theme App Extension. Activate the block with one click in the theme editor on the product template (or wherever the notice should appear prominently). No edit to theme.liquid, compatible with any theme. The official notice then appears automatically on the relevant pages.
Step 3: Languages - automatic in the customer's language
The biggest advantage over a manual graphic: the app serves the official notice automatically in the correct EU official language - matching the storefront / customer language. You don't have to maintain 24 language versions. Every visitor sees the notice in their language, as the Regulation requires.
Step 4: Ensure the clickable link & QR code
The official notice contains the QR code to the "Your Europe" portal. For digital display, a clickable link to the same destination is also required - the app embeds both correctly. Use the live preview to confirm the notice renders cleanly, legibly and without distortion.
Step 5: Exclusion rules for B2B & special cases
Not every product needs the consumer notice (e.g. pure B2B items or services). Set up exclusion rules in the dashboard - by product type, tag, collection or individually. The rules also apply automatically to future products.
Step 6: GARAN label only for a real manufacturer guarantee
If the producer of a product advertises a free durability guarantee of more than two years for the entire good, you can additionally store the GARAN label - with brand, model and duration (years). Step 7: Add the notice to the confirmation email
The guidelines recommend including the notice in the order confirmation email. The app provides a snippet you can add to the confirmation email.
Step 8: Test and go live
- check the storefront in several languages (language switch / Markets),
- scan the QR code with a smartphone,
- test the mobile rendering,
- verify excluded products,
- export the PDF proof if needed.
